Hospitals and healthcare · Seismic Zone V
The clearest example in our record of the seismic case governing outright: a 300 mm separation in a Zone V hospital, alongside ordinary 100 mm thermal joints in the same building.

What this building needed
A 300 mm gap and a 100 mm gap in the same hospital
That is not inconsistency, it is the two calculations doing different jobs. The 100 mm joints are thermal. The 300 mm separation is a structural gap between blocks, sized from storey drift under IS 1893 and amplified for inelastic response — which in Zone V produces figures an order of magnitude larger than thermal movement. SeismAtec 450 covers the wide separation; MegAtec 340 and 360 cover the rest.
Delivered against a live construction programme and closed out
Five dispatches from July to November 2025, and the works completed and certified in February 2026. On government healthcare that certificate is the thing that matters — it is what the next tender committee asks to see.
Specified early, which is why it was installed as designed
Government and institutional healthcare runs on approved-makes lists and third-party inspection. Where the system is named at drawing stage with its gap, movement class and rating attached, it survives to fit-out. Where only a width is named, it gets substituted.
