Specification

A clause written to the MegAtec 300 data sheet

Worked for a 100 mm floor joint. Change the gap and the movement for each location on the joint schedule and leave the rest. It names what the joint must do rather than who makes it, so an alternative has to match the performance, not just the description.

Supply and install a floor expansion joint cover system, floor to floor and floor to wall, to the locations scheduled, for a nominal structural gap of 100 mm, accommodating a movement of not less than ±25 mm. The system shall be cyclically tested to ASTM E-1399, Classes I and II, and the test evidence submitted. The exposed surface shall give a smooth transit, be serrated for slip resistance and remain accessible (ADA compliant) across the full movement cycle, flush with the adjacent finish. It shall be rated by its data sheet for the scheduled traffic, per day: pedestrians more than 25,000, trolleys up to 1,000, forklifts up to 1,000, cars up to 1,000, trucks up to 10. A continuous moisture barrier membrane shall be installed within the joint and lapped to the structural waterproofing on both sides; the lap is within this subcontract. Where the joint crosses a fire compartment line, a fire barrier rated to the compartment is included (available on request; rating confirmed per job). Manufacture shall be against a site survey of the built gap taken after the structure is complete. The technical data sheet, the cross-section for each location and the installation method statement shall be submitted for approval before manufacture.

Each requirement is explained in how to specify an expansion joint. Writing to a CPWD tender? See the DSR items. See also expansion joints in buildings and the types of expansion joint.
