Expansion joints in Delhi NCR

Delhi, Haryana & Uttar Pradesh · Seismic Zone IV

7 projects — 6 completed, 1 in progress

Our factory is in Azadpur, so NCR is the one market where we manufacture, schedule and install inside the same city. It is also, on the engineering, the most demanding market in the country.

We design the joint schedule from your drawings, manufacture the systems in India and install them with our own trained crews — one contract and one point of responsibility, rather than a trader supplying profiles and leaving the fixing to whoever is on site.

Why NCR joints are wider than the same building elsewhere

Seismic zone and annual temperature range are what actually set the movement a joint has to absorb. Delhi NCR sits in Zone IV under IS 1893 — a high-damage-risk band — with an annual swing of about 4 °C to 45 °C and beyond.

Zone IV changes the system, not just the size

Delhi is in Zone IV under IS 1893 — a high-damage-risk band, and two steps above Bengaluru. Buildings that would take an ordinary thermal joint in the south need a system rated to ASTM E-1399 Class III here, with the movement taken in more than one direction.

The widest thermal swing of any Indian metro

NCR runs from about 4 °C in January to 45 °C and beyond in May — a range near 45 K. Thermal movement is proportional to that range, so an identical 45 m bay moves substantially more in Delhi than in Bengaluru or Chennai. It is the single most common reason a catalogue-default gap turns out to be too narrow here.

Metro and institutional work sets its own rules

The DMRC depot work and CAPFIMS were not driven by comfort. Depot floors take axle loads that most building joints are not rated for, and a hospital corridor has to stay cleanable and trolley-safe across the full movement cycle — which rules out most open-gap details.

Being local shortens the part nobody plans for

Extrusion, fabrication and the install crew are all here. When a gap is found on site to be wider than the drawing said — which happens on most projects — the recut is days rather than weeks.

Typical systems on Delhi NCR work: MegAtec 340 for its self-centring action and Class III rating, SeismAtec 450 where the gap runs wide, and MegAtec 360 for the wall and ceiling returns. The right answer depends on the gap, the movement class, the traffic and the location — send drawings and we will name it per location.
