Systems supplied
How we knowDLF's work order of March 2024 names the system, the joint width and the water barrier in a single line. Gaps and systems are taken from the production and dispatch records for this job, not from a catalogue. Section drawings are illustrations, not shop drawings.
What this building needed
A BOQ line that names everything
The order line reads the way a specification should. It gives the system by its reference (MegAtec 300-A01-100), the joint it goes into (horizontal, 75 mm wide), the water barrier under it (an FPO membrane) and the adhesive that bonds it. A substitution can quietly drop any one of those. Written into the line, none of them can be dropped.
Outside, the membrane does the work
This joint is in the open, so rain reaches it. The aluminium cover carries the traffic and hides the gap, but the membrane under it, lapped onto the slab's waterproofing, is what keeps water out of the floor below. On this order it is a priced line item, not an assumption.
Modest movement, hard weather
Taramani is in Zone III and a few kilometres from the sea. Thermal movement on a Chennai slab is small, but monsoon rain and salt air reach an external joint every year. On this job the fixing and the membrane mattered more than the movement rating.
